How do I pay my car insurance premium?
You can pay your car insurance premium by credit card, charge card, debit card, direct debit, cheque or bank draft. Please note that a charge of €10 may be applied to payments by credit card, charge card or debit card, in order to cover the cost charged by the card provider. We are sorry, but we are unable to accept cash payments.
What type of cover can I buy?
As a Fire Brigade employee you can choose the level of cover and price that's right for you, with our Select and Economy cover options in our Public Sector Car Insurance Scheme. Our Select cover is our competitively priced option with an extensive range of benefits, while our Economy policy provides you with basic essential cover at a lower price.
Can I add a named driver to my policy?
You can add a named driver (from the age of 23) with a full or provisional licence.
I am a retired employee of the Fire Brigade, can I join the scheme?
Yes. Retired employees of the Fire Brigade and their partners are welcome to join the Public Sector Car Insurance Scheme regardless of age.
What is the phone number for the Motor Breakdown Rescue service?
You can reach the 24-hour accident and breakdown service on 1800 377 700.
Can my spouse or partner join the Scheme?
Your spouse or partner may also join the Scheme and avail of its many benefits, once their occupation is a ‘Class 1 occupation’. Please call (01) 408 6266 for further information.
Can I drive my car abroad?
Yes, you can insure your car so that you are covered to drive in the EU. Please contact our Customer Service Team on (01) 408 4020 in advance of your journey, so that we can arrange an extension to your policy cover.
What should I do if my car is stolen?
If your car is stolen you must firstly notify the Gardai, check the details of your insurer on your car insurance certificate and notify the insurer of your policy on the relevant phone number below.
