At Cornmarket, we understand that nurses, midwives, medical professionals and their spouses/partners all want different things from their car insurance.  With this in mind we’ve worked hard to bring you a range of policies which will give you more choice, more benefits and most importantly, better value through the Nurses and Midwives Car Insurance Scheme. 

 

More choice:

  • We’ve introduced three levels of cover; Gold, Silver and Bronze, so that you can get the policy that best meets your needs and your budget. 

 

More Benefits:

  • Improved No Claims Discount protection – which allows you to make 2 unlimited claims in a 3 year period on our Gold policy.
  • Unlimited windscreen cover for Comprehensive policyholders when you use an approved repairer on Gold and Silver Policies.
  • A reduced excess of €125 (previously €275) on Gold policies.

 

Better Value:

  • A 2nd car discount* if your spouse / partner currently has a car insured in their own name.
  • An additional 5% discount if you have another Cornmarket product or an additional 10% discount if you have another Aviva policy (subject to a minimum premium of €335.33, inclusive of Government levy). Underwriter terms and conditions apply.
  • We’ll give you a 27% discount on your insurance premium if you have no penalty points or a 12% discount if you have up to two penalty points**.

Comprehensive driving of other cars

Most car insurance policies only offer you third party only cover when driving other cars.  The Nurses and Midwives Car Insurance Gold cover goes one step further and provides you with automatic comprehensive car insurance cover when driving other cars.

No claims discount protection

Our Gold and Silver car insurance policies will automatically protect your no claims bonus in the event of fire, theft or windscreen claims so that you do not lose your No Claims Bonus which you have carefully built up. On Gold policies you can also make up to two unlimited claims within a three year period excluding fire, theft or windscreen claims without losing your no-claims discount.

Step Back no claims bonus protection

Step Back no claims bonus protection is included as standard on our Gold and Silver policies and will cover you in the event of a claim on your car insurance by stepping your no claims bonus back by 3 years.

Malicious damage cover on work grounds 

You will be covered for malicious damage occurring while your car is parked in the designated parking area on work grounds (subject to an excess of €125) on our Gold policies.

24-hour breakdown rescue, driveway assistance & windscreen cover

Our Gold, Silver and Bronze car insurance policies come with breakdown rescue and driveway assistance in the event that your car breaks down at home or away from home.  Windscreen cover is included as standard on Gold and Silver policies.

As a Cornmarket Car Insurance policy holder, you are automatically protected by Europe’s leading legal expenses insurer, under the DAS Motor Legal Protection Plus programme. If you are involved in a motor accident, prosecuted for a motoring offence, have a motor contract dispute or need legal advice, the DAS Motor Legal Protection Plus programme is here to help you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. What do I need to know?

How do I pay my car insurance premium?

You can pay your car insurance premium by credit card, charge card, debit card, direct debit, cheque or bank draft. Please note that a charge of €10 may be applied to payments by credit card, charge card or debit card in order to cover the cost charged by the card provider. We are sorry, but we are unable to accept cash payments.

What type of car insurance cover can I buy?

With the Nurses and Midwives Car Insurance Scheme you can choose the level of cover and price you need with our Gold, Silver and Bronze car insurance cover options. Our Gold car insurance cover is our competitively priced option with our highest level of benefits.  Our Silver car insurance policy will provide you with an extensive range of benefits for a lower premium, while our Bronze car insurance policy provides you with basic essential cover at our lowest price. 

Can I add a named driver to my car insurance policy?

You can add a named driver (from the age of 17) with a full or provisional licence subject to acceptance criteria.

I am a retired INMO member, can I join the Nurses and Midwives’ Car Insurance Scheme?

Yes. Retired INMO members and their spouses/partners are welcome to join the Scheme regardless of age.

What is the phone number for the Motor Breakdown Rescue service?

You can reach the 24-hour accident and breakdown service on 1800 646 545.

Can my spouse or partner join the Nurses and Midwives Car Insurance Scheme?

Your spouse or partner may also join the Scheme, and avail of its many benefits, once their occupation is a ‘Class 1 occupation’. Please call (01) 470 8043 for further information.

Am I covered for malicious damage while my car is parked on work grounds?

Yes, the standard car insurance policy excess is €125 on Gold policies and €300 on Silver policies for malicious damage claims if you choose to insure your car under the Nurses and Midwives Gold / Silver Car Insurance policy when your vehicle is parked in the designated parking area on work grounds.

Can I drive my car abroad?

Yes, you can insure your car so that you are covered to drive in the EU. Please contact our Car Insurance Customer Service Team on (01) 408 4020 in advance of your journey, so that we can arrange an extension to your car insurance policy cover.

What should I do if my car is stolen?

If your car is stolen you must firstly notify the Gardai, check the details of your insurer on your car insurance disc and notify the insurer of your policy on the relevant phone number below.
