What do you enjoy about working in Cornmarket?
For me, it’s the people. I joined Cornmarket recently and everyone has made me feel so welcome. The atmosphere on the team is fantastic and everyone is great to work with. I’ve already had team members pick me up whilst I’ve been having a tough day and I think that shows a glimpse of the Cornmarket ethos. Also, the guidance and support given by management to help you reach your objectives and career goals is incredible. No Team Leader or member has ever been too busy to help, which has been helpful to my onboarding given that I had no previous office or administrative experience before joining.
What does your typical day look like?
A typical day starts for me at 08:30 am, catching up on my emails and administrative tasks before hopping onto the phones at 10 am to help customers with any queries they may have on life policies. In between tasks I will always look to help a colleague if I have a spare minute. Generally, your day varies so much, not one day is the same and that’s what I like about working here. It mixes up the week and gives you a nice daily variety of work.
What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead in Cornmarket?
I am looking forward to becoming more involved in Cornmarket's committees, maybe even setting up a new one. Naturally, I want to continue to get the most out of learning from others throughout my onboarding and progress as much as possible in my role. I can’t wait to get involved in some of the activities Cornmarket has planned, such as the Sports and Social Club, pay day drinks, Health and Wellbeing Week etc. It’s the little things that count and working here, I feel there is always something to look forward to.
