What do you enjoy about working in Cornmarket?

Firstly, the people. I have met so many great people in this company and formed some lifelong friendships. I am grateful for the ‘mentors’ that I have found in some of the more senior staff members. The advice and skills that they have passed on to me throughout the years are priceless and they have had a huge impact on my career progression within the company. There are always opportunities to progress within the company and you can see proof of that throughout the departments, with many of the managers and senior members of staff having progressed from entry level positions. Cornmarket is staff orientated and I appreciate the opportunity we are given to voice our opinions. Of all companies I have worked for, Cornmarket is the most open to change in terms of how we do things to strike a balance between what’s necessary to run the company alongside considering their employee’s needs and wants.

What does your typical day look like?

Every day is different, which I love! A big part of my role is training the SPS (Salary Protection) team. A large portion of my day will revolve around planning and training our new starters as well as providing technical support to the existing team. I get a lot of questions around the ins and outs of Salary Protection Cover, that the team may not have come across before and it’s my job to bridge that knowledge gap. I am always reviewing our processes and working on projects, mainly trying to figure out the most efficient way to do things, while considering the risks involved for Cornmarket and our stakeholders. I am also responsible for focusing on Quality Control within the SPS team, ensuring we are servicing our clients as best we can while following all regulations.

What are you most looking forward to in the year ahead in Cornmarket?

Completing training with our new starters. The SPS team is continuously growing and it’s a very exciting time for our department. I’ve been building the plan around training and resources we have available to new starters over a long period of time, so I really get a great sense of satisfaction being able to help people develop and learn in their role each day.
