If your dentist is registered with DeCare under Direct Payment they bill the insurer direct. If not, you just scan and send to DeCare. Your claim will be processed within 10 working days*.

Dental insurance can be a valuable investment for managing dental costs and promoting oral health. It can cover routine check-ups, preventative care, and emergency treatments, helping to avoid unexpected expenses and maintain good oral health.
There’s a waiting period of three months for basic treatments, 12 months for major treatments and 18 months for orthodontic treatment, however you’re covered straightaway for investigative and preventative treatment.
If you have a full medical card in Ireland (aged 16 or over), dental care is provided under the Dental Treatment Services Scheme, managed by the HSE. You'll automatically be covered for the following: One dental checkup (oral exam). One scale & polish (teeth cleaning) and unlimited tooth extractions.
Public Dental Clinics and Private Dentists contracted under the Irish Dental Association offer routine exams and emergency care are covered by medical card. Your local HSE Health Centre can provide a list of contract Dentists in your local area. For more information see (website details below).

If you are eligible for the Treatment Benefit Scheme you may qualify for: One free dental exam per calendar year, €42 towards either a scale and polish (capped at €15) or periodontal treatment for serious gum disease.

It costs the same to insure one child as it does to insure three. When you cover children on a policy, you’re covered for up to 10 children and dependents, up to 23 years old.
If you have no gaps in cover, and are moving to a similar plan, DeCare will cover you from the date you change your policy.

Your Dental Insurance cover comes up for renewal every year. You can renew it up to 14 days in advance. Remember if you don’t contact us, your policy will auto-renew after your 14 day cooling-off period. To review your cover, amend your current Dental Insurance policy, or update your personal details, please call (01) 4086297.
If you visit any dentist on DeCare’s Direct Pay Network, DeCare pays the dentist directly for costs covered under your policy. However if your practice doesn’t currently offer a direct pay service, you pay your dentist normally, then claim back the costs covered under your policy by sending original receipts to: DeCare Dental Claims, IDA Business Park, Claremorris, Co Mayo.
No, dental insurance premiums are not eligible for tax relief.
Yes, DeCare’s dental insurance policies include limited cover for emergency dental treatment while travelling outside Ireland. You may need to pay upfront and submit receipts for reimbursement.
