Our Most Frequently Asked Questions!

When should I buy Travel Insurance?

Travel Insurance is a crucial aspect of trip planning, and it is highly recommended to purchase it as soon as you make significant non-refundable bookings for your trip, such as flights or accommodations. By doing so, you protect yourself against potential unforeseen events that may disrupt your travel plans before your scheduled departure date.

For Single Trip Travel Insurance, you will need to start your policy on the day that you leave to go on your trip. Cover for cancellation on these policies starts from the date of purchase. If you are purchasing an Annual Multi Trip, you are only covered from the date you choose to start your policy.

Important conditions:

· Reimbursement will be based you allowing sufficient connection time to get to the airport. Connection time is based on up to the maximum amount of the limit shown on Your Schedule of Cover in order to reach Your booked destination.

· Must check in on time and get written confirmation from carriers or handling agents about the delay (cause and duration)

· There may be an excess (deductible), and any alternative arrangements offered by the transport provider might affect your claim

In summary: Yes, missed flights due to public transport disruptions or breakdowns are covered-but you’ll need documentation, must meet policy conditions, and any reimbursement is within set limits.

· You must provide a medical certificate from a doctor (GP or consultant, depending on illness type) confirming that the cancellation was medically necessary, and this must be obtained prior to cancelling the trip.

· There is no cover for pre-existing conditions unless they were declared and accepted by Mawdy at policy purchase or renewal.

· Conditions like stress, anxiety, depression or psychological disorders also require a Consultant’s certificate.

Please refer to your policy schedule and booklet for specific details.
