Nurses and midwives work in physical and emotionally demanding environments which can lead to burnout. Burnout has been defined as a combination of emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation and a reduced sense of personal accomplishment. It can be emotionally taxing to have to consider the wellbeing of others as well as your own wellness needs.

A study in 2011* reported that 52% of Irish nurses experience burnout and emotional exhaustion. However, since then, increasing figures have also been reported particularly during the pandemic without the normal, protective social interaction of visiting family and friends**. This webinar gives advice to help nurses build resilience to positively adapt to stressful situations and reduce burnout, compassion fatigue and psychological distress.
